Shani Jayanti is traditionally observed on Vaishakha Bahula Amavasya. On this sacred day, Lord Shani was born to Surya Bhagavan (Sun God) and Chaya Devi, and he is the elder brother of Yama Dharma Raja. Among the Navagrahas (nine celestial planets), Shani is the seventh. Though often feared, Lord Shani is actually immensely compassionate. He delivers hardships only based on the karmic deeds of individuals, aiming to guide them toward righteousness.
Those who worship Shani Dev with devotion and perform Tailabhishekam (oil abhishekam) on Saturdays are believed to receive his blessings and relief from suffering. Shani Trayodashi is considered highly auspicious for this ritual, and even more so is Shani Jayanti. Performing Tailabhishekam on this day is said to be extremely beneficial and spiritually rewarding.
Devotees can seek freedom from Shani Dosha and other karmic obstacles by performing this sacred ritual and become recipients of divine grace and protection.
